The year is 1968. A group of citizens that called themselves the “Betterment Association” were instrumental for such things we know today as SOUTH METRO FIRE DISTRICT,
The WATER TOWER BY THE RAYMORECEMETERY, and
THE MEMORIAL PARK IN RAYMORE.
1968- The “Betterment Association” organized the first Raymore Festival.
The festival carried on every year after that.
1972- This year Raymore celebrated their centennial year, they called it
"RAYMORE HOMECOMING"
This years event lasted ten days. Some of the events included:
· Lucy Webb turned 100 years old, and she was the grand marshal of the parade.
· Time Capsule burial (opened in 2000)
· Womanless Wedding
· Tractor pulls
1998A group of volunteers along with the City of Raymorecame together to form the
"RAYMORE FAMILY FUN FEST".
The City of Raymorealong with several local business owners funded the event.
2000 -The name was changed to
"RAYMORE SUMMER FESTIVAL".
2003-The name was changed to what we know today as
"RAYMORE FESTIVAL IN THE PARK".
2005- RAYMORE FESTIVAL IN THE PARK, INC. is now a not-for-profit that is operated by citizen organization volunteers, and is separate from the City of Raymore.
RFIPI is totally funded by donation from local businesses, large corporations, and private citizens.
